Arrivals!

Logan, runway, airport

When I started this blog over 5 years ago,
I had no clue as to just how much it would transform my life; the many people I’ve met, to the
relationships I’ve formed have amazed, humbled and yes, inspired me.
Maybe it was my heart splashed on the pages here that have brought some my way.
Many having been caught up in the same labyrinth I somehow made it through.
I’ve gained friends and lost some.
Made people cry and made them laugh.
What amazes me most is the unexpected things, the deep friendships that just ‘happened’.
Next week, Pamela and I will drive to Logan airport (read: Arrivals!)
to pick up two people that have not only forever changed our lives but have
found their way into the heart of this family.
They understand us as we understand them.
(although they both can still take the piss out of me at will. I guess I’m an easy target)
They will spend the better part of three weeks with us as we make our way
through a list of ‘to do’s’ that has been building since last August.
There will be music, food, drink, cigars, music, didgeridoo, laughter, jokes, sightseeing,
a long-awaited 4 day trip to the North Country and some very special conversations at midnight.
And I just aquired a nice CharBroil  ‘No-Oil’ infrared Turkey fryer.
The boys are going to have us some fun!
Mark has taken notes on several notable Boston eateries that he wants to visit. (no worries, she’ll be right mate)
Maureen just wants good cheeseburgers and pink lemonade. (after your Cincinnati Chili!)
I ask that you say a prayer for their safe arrival here.
This year we will have connectivity (unlike last year!)
Watch for some funny blog fluff.
Pamela, the girls and me are jumping like maggots on a barbie as we wait.
Our trip to Logan will be complete only after we see 3 Australian Akubras.
I will definitely be wearing mine.
There’s one Akubra

ps. I will personally be happy when Maureen and Mark see the gorgeous skyline below . . .

Love this post! Maureen and Mark will love it too, I’m sure. I guess I’d usually say you’re lucky to have met such wonderful people on your blog…..but knowing you, Pam and the girls, I have to say you are very blessed. When you (all) speak of them, whether in person or on this blog, your love and fondness come through in every word. Wishing them safe travels :-)

Hard to believe it’s already over.
And what a time it was!
I’ve been awful with comments and anything blog related lately.
Gotta get back into the swing of things!

This is a post destined to be forever in my heart and memories.
Blogging has been quite an amazing thing for not only you and yours, but myself and Mark as well.
I know when you and I first floated the idea of us coming over that Mark and Pam both thought we were nuts!
I also know these days they’ve embraced it the way we did.
We understand each other because our lives are so similar, in so many ways and we have much in common.
Make no mistake my friend, there are 2 very antsy Aussies sweating on a flight to LA at 11.00am next Friday morning, and as much as I’m dreading the thought of 13 hours in the air with another 6 to Boston after that, I know it will be worth every single bit of the time because there will be memories created that can never be undone or forgotten.
Those are the things people live to create and I thank the lord we’re in the position to do what we’re doing.
Brace yourself MA, we’re almost there!

No longer a strange idea, Moe.
Hell, we’re already talking about Australia next year!
This was destiny pure and simple.
And as far a memories go?
    Yeah, we created a few.
    Ya think?!?

I cannot wait for Mark and Maureen to arrive in Boston! It is hard to believe that an entire year has past by.Since I turned the calendar page to July, the days have been flying by even faster.

Your blog has been a blessing. It has helped you through some very tough years and along the way form some special friendships.

Maureen was right when I thought you were both crazy planning for last year’s visit! I remember saying “Who does that?” Australia is so far away ! I am so glad that it happened.

We will have a great time together–it won’t be long now!

What? Meeting strangers from teh interwebz? Don’t you know that’s DANGEROUS?!?!?

(said the woman who just returned from a 2 week holiday in Greece with two blogger gals who live inside her computer!)

Have a ball! Post silly stuff!

Not to hijack ~m’s post here, but I just had to say how much this comment made me smile!

More people need to take the time and meet people they spend so much time living with in their computers because it can be quite a substantial amount of time, as we all well know.
Those who think we’re all mad need to maybe take a risk now and then.
Who knows what they’re missing out on by not doing it?
      :hat:

amen, ms. anonymum! of the 7 blogger meet ups, i’ve only had one go rather horribly awry – and i should have seen that coming. live and learn, and keep doing them! if a blogger writes honestly (and not all do, but in general, you can spot ‘em), then by reading you can truly get to know someone. when my blogmate, dolce, walked into the lobby of the athens hilton? it was if we’d known each other for decades… not. awkward. at. all.

        • anonymum says:

There was no awkwardness last year, I’ll admit. Tears and emotions ran riot {as they will this year} but nothing else.
People tell me you can’t develop a true relationship/friendship online.
          I tell ‘em that’s a crock of shit….
