Reminder

I opened my Yahoo this morning and had a ‘birthday’ alert.
I have many so it’s no surprise when they appear.
I thought, “Who has a birthday next week?”
I opened the email and frowned a bit.
It would have been my father’s birthday tomorrow and I’d totally forgotten about it.
One part of me felt ashamed, one part just felt real sad.
Happy (what would have been 81) birthday, Dad.
I miss you, man, but I also know that you and mom are probably lighting up some serious candles today.
First birthday in heaven rocks from what I hear.
Enjoy the angel food cake, buddy.
And don’t skimp on the chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
Oh, and please light some candles for us too, okay?
Still love you, my frozen man . . .

Don’t be so hard on yourself Michael.
There is rarely a day goes by that you don’t think about him anyway, is there?
I have no doubt the date would have hit you tomorrow…

    It did, kiddo.
Pamela and I did pay him a birthday visit.
    It was serene and beautiful.
The visit made us both happy.
    He was there . . .
His waving flag never stopped touching Pam’s arm even though there was nary a breeze. [no lie]
