This week it’s all about jpegs.
Jpeg Mania, if you will.
Welcome to another Malarky Monday where we all get a chance to tickle your funny bone
and expand your views of the wonders of the internet.
For me, it’s about pictures this week.
The opposite of fast food:
A sad and horrible truth:
The truth about abduction:
A truth you never want to stumble upon in the old box of VCR tapes:
(*you never looked at Uncle Bill quite the same way after seeing him in a Catwoman costume)
And last but not least, speaking of StumbleUpon . . .
This little gem was sent to me by Moe as she knows and understands my total addiction and love of SU.
It’s always just one more click . . .
Please visit my fellow compadres of all things funny, weird and wonderful!!!!!
98% of people say ‘Oh Shit!’ before going in the ditch on a slippery road.
The other 2% are from Massachusetts and they say,
‘Hold my beer and watch this!’
*I usually say, “Put on your seatbelt. I’m going to try something.
I’ve only seen it done in a cartoon but I think I can do it.”
Happy Thanksgiving, folks!
I will be off and on with the blog for the next few days as I prepare Thursday’s feast.
Roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole and on and on.
Be safe, be well, be happy and be full . . .
I’ve added a ‘Top Comment’ widget to my sidebar to get an idea as to who
comments the most.
There were no surprises (Maureen) but I thought it was interesting at the very least.
I’m thinking about a contest though . . .
Most comments at years end for the top 3 visitors will garner you a prize.
Right now I’m thinking about something with my URL on it (a t-shirt, kitchen magnet, bumper sticker, coffee mug)
Maybe a favorite book of mine that I could ‘dedicate’ to the individual winners.
Or I do have a collection of vintage postcards which I could send hand-written messages to
the three winners. (maybe all three prizes!)
Something to shoot for?
That said, please comment.
As much as you can.
Give yourself a winning chance.
Get yourself into the top 12 (if you’re not already there) and who knows?
Yeah, I love traffic almost as much as I like comments.
Can you tell?
And it looks like I may have New Years Eve off this year from gigging (first one in 30 years)
Could be fun to post the winners at midnight as the ball drops . . .
ps. those of you that don’t have a gravatar (image next to your name)
go to Gravatar.com and set up an account.
It’s free, painless and easier than giving blood.
And you can pick your own picture!
Once you’re done, your gravatar appears whenever you post a comment!
Where did the week go?
It’s Monday once again and time for a bit of our tomfoolery.
We also want to introduce a new Malarker.
Welcome Grimm, from MyGrimmReality.
One more blogger = one more chance to laugh.
Be sure to check him out.
This is going to be good.
I’ve been a busy boy this weekend, hence the short post.
For those of you that think you know actor Kevin Spacey, check out this video.
Spacey does some simply amazing impersonations.
From Marlon Brando and Jimmy Stewart to Johnny Carson and Jack Lemmon,
this blew me away.
Laughed my keester off as well.
Deep inside this garden of souls lies the bones of a lifetime drowning in half-truths,
Of long and slowly forgotten days that were sadly beyond repair,
Of nights not unlike the darkest side of the moon
A few insignificant touches of the brush would be all that it took,
to make life go on as she thought that it should;
Unbroken and bright, the simple and small
while echoes of unwanted things filled the silent grey halls . . .
Of her Gothic cathedral, sadly visited by few, where three skeleton keys
were kept hidden from view
because life wasn’t meant to be that easy, and she kept it that way, anyway
maybe all the way
The tall stained-glass windows soaked with rays of the sun
kept the white light of truth from touching the soul of anyone, near or far,
it never really mattered
distance was never a fragile thing
Deep in this garden of souls lies the bones of my life, my blacks and my blues, and yes,
my oh-so-not-insignificant life
But you will know I was here by two things left behind
originally unwanted but in the sweet by and by
they would find . . . You.
deep in Gethsemane
with two deep sunset roses nearby . . .
My vacation week is sadly over but Malarkey Monday is right on schedule.
This week I found a few musical things that made me think and laugh.
Several weeks ago Morky did a MM entry on Postman Pat.
It was brilliant.
For weeks afterward I couldn’t get the frigging song out of my head.
Until a few days ago.
Let me introduce you to ‘Narwhals’ (click here for the narwhal Wiki page)
Bobby McFerrin is a very talented singer/musician that has been around for many years.
Don’t judge him by his ‘Don’t Worry, be Happy’ days.
Not only is he incredibly gifted musically, he can be a lot of fun too.
This video makes me believe that we ultimately all in this thing (called ‘life’) together.
This is McFerrin at the 2009 World Science Festival demonstrating the awesome power of music.
Watch, listen and smile.
Please visit my fellow Malarkers for much more tomfoolery.
Enjoying a bit of badly needed time off.
I will be reading and checking in but won’t be posting until next week sometime.
Have some personal things that need some attention.
Thanks for stopping in.
Now back to my fine Montecristo No. 2 . . . (and no, that’s not me sitting in the comfy chair.
I am in a dark cellar with a rocking chair and three cats. But somehow that’s okay)
Special dedication tonight as I recall a smoky dive from the 50’s called the ‘Waltz Club’ . . .
Long story and definitely not one for this blog.
I knew of one of the patron saints of the place, from what I’ve heard.
Sweet dreams, lady, sweet and smoky dreams
Maybe I’ll see you in them . . .
*I find it intensely gratifying (for very personal reasons)
to give you the list of the players on this archaic recording:
Johnny Hartman, vocal
John Coltrane, tenor sax
McCoy Tyner, piano
Jimmy Garrison, bass
Elvin Jones, drums
It is Malarkey Monday once again although I do apologize
for last weeks absence.
The net was on the fritz in Australia and I didn’t sleep a wink the night before making a post
close to impossible.
We are all back on track today.
The following video is a bit longer than I wanted but I assure you it is well worth watching.
Sometimes ‘wordplay’ is all you need for a quick morning smile.
Bollocks! (Bull hooks)
A few pictures to round out the mayhem . . .
*One of the 12 steps for your pooch?
Maybe this is Tony Hawk’s Grandma.
Let”s just hope she has a decent health plan, eh?
Please be sure and visit my fellow Malarkers!
There’s always something more to laugh about.
Have a brilliant Monday folks!
I’ve always dreamed of singing this song for you.
In my heart, I know that I have, maybe someday I actually will.
It’s everything I’ve always wanted to say to the only person in the world that I could ever say it to. Our love is a slow, sweet dance . . .
Happy Anniversary, my Pamela
(put on the headphones I’ve left for you. Loggins is simply amazing LIVE.)
Now, while we’re here alone and all is said and done
Now I can let you know because of all you’ve shown
I’m grown enough to tell ya You’ll always be inside of me.
How many roads have gone by
So many words left unspoken
I needed to be be your side
If only to hold you.
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be Even when I’m gone
You’ll be here in me Forever
Once, I dreamed that you were gone
I cried, I tried to find ya
I begged the dream would fade away and please awaken me
The night took a hold of my heart
And left me with no one to follow
The love that I grasped in the dark,
I’ll always remember
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be
Even when I’m gone
You’ll be here in me
Forever in my heart
Forever here you’ll be
Even when I’m gone
You’ll be near to me
Forever in my life
Always thought I’d be
I’d be yours
