Saw this post at Interstellar Adventures and thought it was so cool, I tagged myself.
One book that has changed your life:
Where I’m calling from by Raymond Carver.
This is a collection of short stories that contains two of my Carver favorites: A Small, good thing and Cathedral.
It made me realize how much I really wanted to write.
One book that you’ve read more than once:
The Panic Hand by Jonathan Carroll.
Another collection of shorts but worthy of many re-reads.
My favorite: The Sadness of Detail. Simply and amazing story.
I emailed Carroll a few years ago to ask when he would be in the US again for a signing.
I’m thinking, “yeah, I’ll get a reply.”
It wasn’t two hours later that Carroll sent me an email. Cool.
One book you’d want on a desert island:
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
What’s better than that?
One book that made you laugh:
Me talk pretty one day by David Sedaris.
The man just has a way with words.
One book that made you cry:
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.
My sister gave me this book one Christmas long ago and said, “You’ll know why I’m giving you this after you read it.”
If you’ve been here before you know what the blog is all about.
The Notebook was, in many ways, the slowly uinraveling story of our mother and father.
I read the book in one night and cried like a baby.
One book that you wish had been written:
Anything by Carver.
The man self-destructed far too early.
One book you’re currently reading:
East of Eden by John Steinbeck / Naked by David Sedaris
I alternate daily…
One book you’ve been meaning to read:
Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a True Story by Chuck Klosterman.
If you’ve read Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, you’ll understand the comment above.
One book you haven’t been able to finish:
Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub
Can’t figure this one out but this book left me feeling ripped off.
I used to love King but it looks like maybe I’m changing.

Now I have new books on my booklist! I’m glad you did this.
This one is cool….
May keep this for a rainy day post.
Thanks for the insights into yourself Michael.
p.s Douglas Adams rocks don’t he?
